Dear Badminton is an independent website for people who play badminton for fun, for fitness or in a club league. We explain the rules in plain English, show the real measurements behind the court and equipment, and help you choose gear that suits your level and budget.
What we cover
- Rules and scoring: singles, doubles, serving, faults and scoring, written from the current BWF Laws of Badminton.
- Skills and training: grips, shots, footwork and drills you can practise alone or with a partner.
- Gear and equipment: rackets, shuttlecocks, shoes, nets and sets.
- Learn badminton: how the game works, its history, players and terminology.
- Badminton vs other sports: honest comparisons with tennis, pickleball, squash, padel and more.
How we write our guides
- Rules content is checked against the BWF Laws of Badminton. When the Laws change, we update the affected pages and the date at the top of each article.
- Measurements (court size, net height, shuttle weight and so on) come from official specifications, not estimates.
- Gear guides explain the criteria behind every recommendation, such as weight, balance, flexibility, durability and price, so you can judge a product for yourself. We do not accept payment to include or rank a product.
- Corrections: if you spot a mistake, tell us and we will fix it.
Advertising and affiliate links
Dear Badminton is free to read. It is supported by display advertising, and some gear guides may contain affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. This never affects which products we recommend.
